Whitmer, Newsom, Shapiro, Buttigieg Emerge as Top Democratic Hopefuls

California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Transportation Leaders Gain Donor Support

Political Memoir Fuels Speculation for Michican Governor

Top Democratic donors have identified four potential candidates to replace President Joe Biden in the White House: Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Newsom, 56, is currently serving his second term as governor of California after surviving a recall election in 2021. The former mayor of San Francisco previously served two terms as lieutenant governor.

Whitmer, 52, has repeatedly pledged her support for Biden in the 2024 election. However, speculation has been fueled by her upcoming political memoir, "True Gretch," which will be released in July.

Shapiro, 50, was elected governor of Pennsylvania in 2022 after serving two terms as attorney general. He is considered a rising star in the Democratic Party.

Buttigieg, 41, is the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and was a 2020 presidential candidate. He is currently serving as Transportation Secretary under President Biden.
